Justin Schwausch - Board President

District 2 - Term Began 5/2025 Term Ends 5/2028

  • Mr. Justin Schwausch is serving his thirteenth year on the Board of Trustees and his second year as Vice President of the Board. He is a graduate of Gonzales ISD. He and his wife, Sylvia, are the proud parents of a son who is a Gonzales ISD graduate and earning his Civil Engineering Degree from Texas A&M University. His daughter, Kilee, is a student at Gonzales High School. Mr. Schwausch is a GIS Technician III at Guadalupe Valley Electric Company where he's been employed for twenty -three years. Mr. Schwausch wanted to serve on the Board of Trustees because he wanted to make a difference. His passion is in being a servant to the district and community. He loves listening to the community and staff and being an advocate for GISD, " I try to be my best for the district, and I serve because I don't feel like I'm done. I want to make a difference for the betterment of our district."

Ross Hendershot - Board Board Vice President

District 5 - Term Began 5/2023 Terms Ends 5/2026

Mr. Hendershot, III is serving his fifteenth year on the Board of Trustees and his second as Board President. He comes from a family of Gonzales ISD graduates and educators. After graduating from Gonzales ISD, he attended and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1993. He has three sons, who are also graduates of GISD. Two are graduates of Sam Houston University, and the third will carry on the tradition and graduate from there this year. He is the Regional President of Sage Capital Bank, and he is a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Hendershot serves on the Board because he wants to support the staff and students of Gonzales while promoting education in our Community. His passion is in establishing a Strong Future for the Community of Gonzales. He loves listening to community and Staff and being an advocate for GISD, "I try to be the best for my district, and I serve because I don't feel like I'm done. I want to make a difference for the betterment of our district."

Gloria Torres

Board Member - District 1 Term Began 5/2025 Term Ends 5/2028

Mrs. Gloria Torres has served on the Board of Trustees for thirty-eight years. She and her husband, Michael, have two children who are both graduates of Gonzales ISD. She is a proud grandmother to five grandchildren. Her eldest grandchild attends college at UTSA. Her four younger grandchildren are currently students in Gonzales ISD. She has been in the insurance business as an agent since 1984, and she now proudly owns her own insurance company, Torres Insurance Services. She attends Faith Family Church in Gonzales as well as a weekly Bible study with Women Rise Up and Be Encouraged Ministries. Mrs. Torres serves on the Board because she wants to be a voice for the community, “I want Gonzales ISD to be a thriving district. I wanted better for the community and our students, and I think we are heading that way.” She is passionate about equitable representation of the community, listening to concerns, and advocating for them as a leader.
