Mentor Program

What is the GISD Mentoring Program?
The Gonzales ISD Mentoring Program is designed to promote teacher retention and consistency across our campuses by providing meaningful support to educators early in their careers. This program is grounded in strong communication, loyalty, a solid work ethic, and the development of a positive, collaborative culture. Gonzales ISD is deeply invested in retaining high-quality educators and fostering long-term consistency within our instructional teams.
Teachers with zero to one year of experience will participate in mentoring meetings every six weeks and receive ongoing campus visits throughout the school year. These intentional touchpoints provide guidance, encouragement, and professional growth opportunities that help teachers feel supported and connected.
Through this program, Gonzales ISD aims to increase job satisfaction, empower teachers to grow into leadership roles within their schools, and ultimately enhance student achievement and engagement. When educators feel confident, supported, and valued, students benefit from stronger instruction, increased consistency, and a more positive learning environment.
By building capacity through mentorship, Gonzales ISD is strengthening our district as a whole—investing in our people, our students, and our future. This commitment supports our vision of making Gonzales ISD a destination district where educators want to work, grow, and stay.
GISD is building capacity to GROW GREATNESS in our community.
