FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 5/23/2019 DATE TO BE RELEASED
GONZALES ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES NAMES FINALIST FOR SUPERINTENDENT
The Gonzales Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees, at its May 22nd meeting, named John Schumacher from Mason ISD, as finalist for superintendent.
By law, the Board must now wait 21 days before voting to hire Schumacher to be the new superintendent for Gonzales ISD. Schumacher is slated to replace out-going Superintendent, Dr. Kimberly Strozier. The Board has followed a lengthy process in determining the finalist. In March 2019, the board hired Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services to direct the search. TASB consultants met with staff and community groups on April 2, 2019 to discuss leadership qualities of the new superintendent. The profile developed from these meetings was the yardstick used by the Board and consultants in evaluating the applicants for the position.
The Board selected 6 applicants for initial interview and then 3 applicants were invited back for a second interview. The Board is scheduled to vote to offer a contract to Schumacher on June 17, 2019. Schumacher has served as Superintendent in Mason ISD since 2016.
