Gonzales ISD is excited to announce Karen Perez as the principal of Gonzales High School. Mrs. Perez, who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, will officially assume her role on June 3.
Most recently, Perez served as principal of Gonzales Junior High for the last two years. "I am honored to lead and serve the Gonzales High School family," added Perez.
The result-driven leader has a strong track record of increasing student achievement and is committed to school safety by championing a safer school environment. Mrs. Perez has a deep understanding of Gonzales ISD's vision and the student's academic needs," said Dr. Elmer Avellaneda. "Her commitment to students and staff is evident by her relentless effort to ensure that every student can learn, grow, and feel a sense of belonging."
Before taking the helm at Gonzales Junior High, Mrs. Perez served in various educational roles, including teacher, CTE coordinator, assistant principal, and most recently, principal. Her accomplishments are a testament to her dedication and expertise, earning her the titles of District Teacher of the Year, Secondary Teacher of the Year, and Star Teacher of the Year in previous roles.
Perez's educational background is a strong foundation for her new role. She holds a Bachelor's degree in business administration and a Master's degree in Education with a focus in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston—Victoria.

Antes de tomar el mando de Gonzales Junior High, la Sra. Pérez desempeñó varios roles educativos, incluyendo maestra, coordinadora de CTE, subdirectora y, más recientemente, directora. Sus logros son un testimonio de su dedicación y experiencia, lo que le valió los títulos de Maestra del año de distrito, Maestra de secundaria del año y Maestra estrella del año en roles anteriores.
La formación académica de Pérez es una base sólida para su nuevo rol. Tiene una licenciatura en administración de empresas y una maestría en Educación con especialización en Liderazgo Educativo de la Universidad de Houston—Victoria.
